From the back cover:

"For two long years, news reporter Matthew Quinn was held captive by rebel forces. His dramatic escape made headlines. But Matt has returned scarred, believing that he can never love another woman....
Matt isn't prepared for Felicity Taylor and the sexual chemistry between them is instant. Matt wants her - but can he take her? Or, must he first reveal the secrets that are haunting him - and holding him back...?"

This is the first book in the By Request omnibus as above.

The hero Matt has recently moved to a small village as he found it difficult to cope returning to his old life after being held captive in a war torn country for nearly two years. Although his life is still far from peaceful, what with his nightmares, injuries, and his ex-girlfriend still demanding attention. He meets Fliss, the heroine, when her daughter unknowingly disturbs him. Upon learning that Fliss used to housekeep for the previous owner of his house, Matt offers her a job. Both of them are surprised by how much they desire one another as they gradually get to know one another. But Matt is still haunted by events during his captivity and believes he has nothing to offer Fliss, and Fliss doesn't want to be involved intimately with a man after the scorn and trauma she faced when got pregnant at sixteen. Although they become very close neither of them are ready for a relationship.

I really enjoyed this book. What I like most about it is that the plot is very original and a little daring, especially the hero's background. I do think that the heroine's issues were a little shallow and not really explained very well. This is very much a story for the hero, which in itself is enjoyable.
The book is well written with plenty of depth, lots of chemistry between the hero and heroine, and a very satisfying love story.

Xx
